The NCMS International Art Stars is a collaborative blog by Sarah Geiger and the 2013 “Art and Literature” class at Nellie Coffman Middle School. The focus of our project is to stimulate conversation about art, both practice and research, and international education. We believe the knowledge gained from intercultural communication, international study and travel are invaluable to general and art education.
As young people at the helm of a changing world, the focus on digital media, content creation and emerging technology provides the opportunity for new ways to communicate. By learning how to blog, research and use computers more effectively, the students at NCMS are becoming more prepared to deal with the questions of the future.
Together, across borders, and utilizing digital media, we hope to raise awareness by making connections between culture, ideas and art. Blog posts by the facilitator and the students will focus on themes surrounding art history, art practice, museums and institutions, international travel, and personal stories. We think our perspectives matter, and by collaborating our voices become stronger.
